10 ways you show someone you care (with your smartphone)

the list show you care with phone

This will probably come as no surprise, but studies have shown that smartphones (and technology in general) are negatively affecting our relationships. Smartphones, and their constant interruptions, interfere with our in-person interactions, which causes us to feel less connected to our partners.

The obvious solution is to ban smartphones from the bedroom…but how realistic is that, really? Not very, if you ask me. So instead of focusing on the negatives, let’s focus on the positives, like how smartphones enhance our relationships and all the cute little smartphone-related things we do to show people we care.

Here are 10 ways you show your significant other that while your smartphone may be number one…they’re like, a really close second!

You keep an eye on their battery life

You’re the sweetheart who plugs their phone in when they fall asleep with it on their face.

You let (some) calls go to voicemail

Darling, I put my phone on vibrate just for you! And I’m not even going to answer this obviously urgent call from my boss. Because I love you.

You Snapchat them more than just sexy photos

Because photos of you making stupid faces are just as sweet as photos of you making sexy faces.

…but you also Snapchat sexy photos

Well, that’s kind of what Snapchat’s for.

You let them win in Words With Friends

You could easily beat them every time (obviously), but you let them win once in a while because of love!

You occasionally leave your phone in your pocket/bag

When you sit down to dinner, your phone doesn’t immediately drop onto the table next to your silverware. In fact, you might not glance at your phone once during the entire meal. (When you get up to go to the bathroom it doesn’t count, obviously.)

You change their ringtone

Sure, you might not ever hear their ringtone, because your phone is always on vibrate…but it’s the thought that counts.

You let them use your phone when theirs dies

You’re willing to give up a few precious moments with your phone so they can check their work email, and you trust that they’re checking their work email…not yours.

You answer their calls

Everyone else gets screened and ultimately sent to voicemail. But when your significant other calls, you actually pick up. Every time!

You give them your lock code

Sharing lock codes: the ultimate sign of trust and true love.
