Alcatel, after launching its 8-inch OneTouch Pixi 3 (8) 4G Windows 10 Mobile-based tablet, announced three new handsets and an Android tablet at the CES 2016 trade show. The company also launched a children’s watch. The company has not yet announced the prices of the Pixi 4 devices but has confirmed the handsets and the tablet will be available starting Wednesday.
The Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 4 (7) is an Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based tablet featuring a 7-inch display with 1024×600 pixels. It packs a quad-core MediaTek MT8321 processor clocked at 1.1GHz, clubbed with 1GB RAM. It houses 8GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded via microSD card (unspecified limit). The tablet bears 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. Backed by a 2580mAh battery, the tablet supports GSM 3G networks as well, apart from voice calling.
The Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 4 (6) is a phablet featuring a 6-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) resolution display and is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor clocked at 1.1GHz, clubbed with 1GB RAM. It houses 8GB of inbuilt storage, which can be expanded via microSD card (unspecified limit), along with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The 4G LTE-supporting Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based phablet is backed by the same 2580mAh battery like sported by the OneTouch Pixi 4 (7) tablet (seen below).
The Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 4 (4) is another Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based handset that bears a 4-inch FWVGA (854×480 pixels) resolution display. It houses a quad-coreMediaTek MT6580M processor clocked at 1.3GHz. The smartphone comes in two variants based on the RAM and the choice of storage. While the first version features 516MB RAM with 4GB inbuilt storage, the second variant comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB inbuilt storage. Both variants support microSD card for storage expansion. The OneTouch Pixi 4 (4) includes a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Another version featuring 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera is also available.
The Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 4 (3.5) bears a 3.5-inch HVGA display and runs on a dual-core MediaTek MT6572M processor clicked at 1.1GHz, clubbed with 512MB RAM. It packs a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The device runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box.
Lastly, the company launched its Alcatel CareTime Watch for children. The wearable device sports a 0.95-inch Oled display with (96×64 pixels) resolution. It also comes with GPS tracking technology. The watch also lets children make calls and send messages to a predefined list of contacts. The device is rated to deliver 4 days of battery life on standby.
While unveiled earlier this week, Alcatel has finally provided the specifications of its new tablet based on Windows 10 Mobile, and said it will be made available in Europe and Latin America in April this year. The OneTouch Pixi 3 (8) 4G Windows 10 Mobile version features an 8-inch (1280×800 pixels) HD resolution display and is powered by the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, clubbed with Adreno 304 GPU and 1GB RAM. It also supports 4G LTE connectivity. The Android version of the tablet is powered by a dual-core MediaTek MT8312 processor clocked at 1.3GHz.
