Maruti Suzuki had showcased a limited edition of the S-Cross crossover at the Auto Expo 2016 last month. This car gets exclusive cosmetic upgrades for personalisation and has finally reached dealerships at an ex-showroom price of Rs 9.5 lakh.
This special edition is based on the DDiS 200 Zeta variant of the S-Cross. The cosmetic changes on the exterior include chrome accents on the front bumper, a chrome garnish on the rear door, black rear spoiler and ORVMs painted in gloss black finish. Alas, the darker shade for the alloy rims showcased on this variant at the Expo is not available.
The cabin also gets some new features starting with a new steering wheel cover. The company has also added faux carbon fibre trim around the center console, floor console and door panels. This S-Cross Limited Edition also comes with a sporty pedal pad and foot-well lamps with blue ambient lighting. The seats get new leather covers with a blue contrast stitching.
However, instead of the touchscreen audio system, the car gets a basic monochrome integrated unit. Also, the Garmin transparent HUD and rear entertainment with two screens mounted behind the front seats as seen on the car exhibited at the 2016 Auto Expo are not included.
Since the S-Cross Limited Edition is based on the Zeta DDiS 200 variant, its engine lineup includes only the 1.3-litre diesel engine. This unit produces 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque and comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The sales numbers of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross had started to dip by the end of 2015. However, the sales are now steadily picking up this year with 2,524 units sold in India last month. The introduction of this limited edition is in a way to boost these sales and would be interesting to see if there are enough buyers for this special edition.
