Red Hat has obtained another Common Criteria Certificationfor its Enterprise Linux 7.1 operating system.
BSI, Germany’s federal information security office, issued the certification under the General-Purpose Operating System Protection Profile 3.9 that sets security requirements for OS fielded in public utilities, telecommunications, health care and other critical infrastructure, Red Hat said Wednesday.
Paul Smith, senior vice president and general manager at Red Hat’s public sector, said the company’s Enterprise Linux platform works to help national security, military and other critical, security-sensitive data center environments comply with regulations and security standards.
The OSPP 3.9 certification was granted after the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS was evaluated with several hardware platforms such Dell EMC’s PowerEdge, Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s ProLiant and IBM’s Big Endian, Little Endian and zEnterprise systems.
The certification came more than a year after Red Hat received the Evaluation Assurance Level 4+ designation for Enterprise Linux 7.1 OS.
