Vivo India on Friday launched the Vivo Y71 smartphone in the country. The key features of the handset include 18:9 FullView Display, narrow bezels, and face unlock. The smartphone has been priced at Rs. 10,990. The Vivo Y71 will be sold via offline and online channels. The handset will go on sale on April 14 across offline stores, and will be available online on Vivo E-store, Flipkart, Amazon, and Paytm Mall from April 16.
One of the key aspects of the Vivo Y71 is its Face Access unlock feature. Apart from unlocking the handset, the facial recognition technology is also capable of other aspects such as, its smart low volume can recognise when a user is looking at the screen and intuitively lowers the volume of message alerts, incoming calls, and alarms. Notably, the Vivo Y71 will be available in Gold and Matte Black colour variants.
Commenting on the announcement, Kenny Zheng, CMO, Vivo India said, “Vivo has always crafted its products keeping consumers preference at the core. With the launch of Y71, we are releasing a smartphone which is large on display and performance, and is coupled with enhanced camera capabilities.”
Vivo Y71 specifications
The dual-SIM Vivo Y71 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, with the company’s custom FunTouch skin on top. The smartphone sports a 6-inch FullView display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It has a screen-to-body ratio of 84.4 percent. It displays 12.5 percent more content than the standard 16:9 aspect ratio, Vivo claims. The handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC paired with 3GB of RAM.
In terms of optics, the Vivo Y71 sports a 13-megapixel camera with PDAF at the back and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The rear camera is said to come with a lighting optimisation feature that helps in low light conditions. The front camera is equipped with an AI Beauty feature that identifies gender, age, skin tone, and more to enhance images.
The Vivo Y71 is equipped with 16GB of inbuilt storage. The smartphone is fuelled by a 3360mAh battery. It comes with a Vivo Smart Engine that the company says will improve battery performance by providing additional power management.
