OnePlus 5 owners should update their smartphone right now.

The hugely-successful startup has pushed-out a software update after some users complained about a glitch that caused OnePlus 5 phones to switch off when emergency service numbers, including 911 and 999, were dialled.

The update is rolling-out to OnePlus 5 users at the moment.

OnePlus 5 owners should navigate to Settings > System Updates to update to the latest version of the operating system.

The glitch was first highlighted on social news site Reddit, when a OnePlus 5 owners noted that his device rebooted when he placed a call to 911.

A spokesperson for the company told Express.co.uk: “We have begun rolling out the software update. Timing may vary by region.

“We encourage OnePlus 5 users to download the update.

“If users haven’t received a notification, check for the update by going to Settings > System Updates.”

Given the critical importance of being able to call 911 in the US, or 999 in the UK, it’s great to see OnePlus react so swiftly to this bug.

OnePlus 5 should update their device as soon as it become available.
