Ludhiana:
The jail authorities have recovered eight mobile phones from as many jail inmates. They have been identified as Ranjot Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Neeraj Kumar, Darbara Singh, Balwinder Singh, Sukhjinder Singh and Vaneet Gupta, all residents of Badewal Road, Sarabha Nagar.
The investigating officer, Jaswinder Singh, Assistant Superintendent of Jail, said a routine checking of the jail barracks was conducted. The jail staff recovered seven mobile phones from the belongings of jail inmates. The case was the referred the Division 7 police where a case under Section 52 A of Prison Act was registered.
In another case, a mobile phone was recovered from Vaneet Gupta. Assistant Jail Superintendent Sukhwinder Singh said Gupta was booked on the charges of immoral trafficking. On August 24, he was sent to Civil Hospital due to some health issues, where, during routine checking, a mobile phone was found hidden under his bed. A fresh case has been registered.
