KOLKATA: MDI Gurgaon has joined a handful of Indian B-schools by setting up a state-of-the-art financial research lab with an objective to connect theory with practice.

The lab aims at imparting the skills students need to enter the finance sector and take up jobs in investment banking, private equity and asset management companies, as well as giving access to networking opportunities.

The lab is intended to supplement classroom learning through the use of technology and help students grasp financial concepts related to trading, asset valuation, derivative securities and portfolio management.

The lab aims at providing access to real-time or delayed national and international financial data, simulations, portfolio and risk analytics software, and market information on commodities, money markets, mortgages, indices, insurance and legal information to understand the dynamics of the finance sector and its entities.

Students can deepen both their research and class work while learning how to analyse financial markets, assess economic scenarios and interpret key news developments that impact the global economy.
