NYFW Fall/Winter
winner’s podium. In the past decades, blazers were valid as stuffy but nowadays, designers (and us too) can’t get enough of this classic piece. So, we’re pretty happy that the blazer has showed up for many seasons now and is interpreted differently every time. But what’s new this fall season? Broad shoulders! And we mean really broad shoulders here.
The French label Zadig & Voltaire and the American label Tibi counted on popular patterns like check and pinstripes. The new trend here is the boxy silhouette which makes the blazer look more casual. Calvin Luo’s blazer looks almost like a coat with big shoulder pads and Proenza Schouler even showed a leather version. If you want to give the blazer a bit more shape to wear it in your everyday life, it can also be combined with a waist belt, like many designers did.
